NEWS 2008 3rd of May 2008 - Lure Coursing in Kajaani This weekend it was time for lure coursing. Weera hasn´t been after the lure since 2006 and for Merit this was the very first time after the lure. In a competition. As I have said before, I believe lure coursing would be the thing for Merit and today she really showed me what Merit is made of! Merit run second in the competion, sharing the second place with Lady ( who really is one of the best lure coursers in Finland with her daughter) with exactly the same points 480. Weera went fourth in the race with 466 points. With this competition Merit took her first lure coursing CC. What a start for her lure coursing career! Go Merit, go;) And for Weera I must say, well done my lovely one. Photos can be seen here. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19th-20th of April - Harstad show Northern Norway about 800 kilometres up North On Friday me and Weera took off to Norway to show Weera in an international dogshow in Harstad, located in the northern Norway. After 800 kilometres travelling we entered the ring on saturday, hoping our hearts out that Mr. Espen Engh would give Weera the wanted cc. And to my joy Mr. Engh gave Weera BOB win with the cc and cacib! By this cc Weera became norwegian champion and also Nordic champion! Norway really stole my heart and soul with its outstanding landscapes - such a beautiful country and nice people. Thank you for company Liisa and the golden retrievers - we had some much fun! More photos on Weera´s page ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 15th of March 2008 - Tampere international, first show for us in 2008 Although dogshows aren´t the first priority this year for me and the girls, we travelled to Tampere to show Weera in the ring. In Tapio Eerola´s ring was 11 pharaoh hounds and Weera went bb-2 out of 6 bitches shown. Photos from the show can be seen here . Happy Birthday to Sweet Weera turning 5 years on 24th of February 2008! Weera got lots of presents on last sunday, including for instance new bed and brand new collar and leash. Nuka on the other hand is healing really well from the operation she had last Thuesday. All of our family is really happy for that and thank you, thank you million times goes to our vetenarian Leena Oksanen, who operated Nuka.Thank you also for caring for all those who have send get well soon greetings to Nuka. Thank you, it makes me feel so good to know that there is people who care our pocket-rocket Nuka. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19th of February - Walking on broken glass This morning I had to make once again a hard decision, since my mixed-breed Nuka was suffering from metritis and the antibiotics treatment wasn´t working. Her condition was getting worse fast. After a discussion with the vet we decided to try an operation. The operation went well and Nuka has now got her uterus removed. I´m keeping my fingers crossed that she fights her way through healing process. This has been a hard spring. So many disappointments and hard decisions. And it doesn´t seem to get any easier...it has been like walking on broken glass. With broken feet and broken heart. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 11th of February 2008 - Health results for Merit Merit had her eyes and knees examined officially today in the vet. The results make me happy, happy, happy! Both her eyes and knees are totally healthy. And the way she behaved in the vet was something really to be proud of. So calm and trusting, wagging her tail and just observing what is going on in the waiting room. She even didn´t go into a barking contest one of the dog patiens was trying to put up;) That´s my Merit. The circus dog. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 29th of January 2008 - Top winning ph´s in Finland 2007, How did the girls do? Top winning pharaoh hounds in Finland list is finally free to publish. This year Weera went second in bitches and also second if we consider the males and the bitches together. Merit on the other hand suprised me totally again by placing fourth! Not bad at all for my girls, second and fourth! Also Weera was top producing dam number three in Finland, with only two puppies! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 21 st of January 2008 - Having fun with training... A few weeks back I started to schedule a training programme for Merit & Weera. And it has been so much fun to train with these two! Both of the girls are showing development in training, which of course makes me happy but what makes me more happy is to see the joy and happiness on the girls faces while training. So we are having fun! While training:) I don´t know, maybe will take even longer break from shows since it is so nice to spend some time within family during the weekends and not be on the road driving to a dogshow! This is so much nicer;) We´ll post updates later. Both of the puppies did very well and I´m so proud of them both. Northgate´s Burning Sky - Jazz 13 CC´s and 2 cacibs 8 BOB wins and 6 BOS wins. Jazz went also abroad to Latvia and got a group placement there, as he went BIG-2. Congratulations Heidi and kennel Blackeagles and also co-owner Mrs. Northgate´s! Northgate´s Before the Dawn - Circusdog, Merit 7 CC´s and 2 cacibs including 1 BOB win and a BIG-4 placement + 2 BOS wins. Multiple placements in bb-rings. Mother Weera´s summary can be read here. Year 2008 will start for us with a short break from the rings. We will focus on running with the wind in the woods instead of showrings. Wish you success for 2008!
